All About KitHAUS

Kithaus_open_aug07

Thanks to MoCo Loco for digging up some info on the kitHAUS. What is kitHAUS you ask? Well, according to their site:

kitHAUS revolutionizes the conventional rules of prefab in a way that's as innovative as it is flexible. our modernist modules are built solid with a patented lightweight M.H.S. aluminum frame and clamping system, that gives you several advantages over conventional building practices. Our modules are constructed on site in a matter of days not months, and because of its lightweight properties can get into the hardest of reach places, without heavy equipment.

It's a unique, modern and savvy way to build that writer's retreat, artist's studio or contemporary get-away without the copious amounts of lumber and cement. You can even combine several to make a little larger prefab domicile. As homes, we must admit that the kitHAUSes feel a little Spartan--but as work sites or your own modern yard cabana, they are quite fetching. I especially like the K3 version...it has a pseudo-Japanese/Usonian feel. The PrairieMod Squad might have to get one to set up our blog-shop in! Check out the site and see for yourself.
