We saw the Heath Ceramics display at the Dwell on Design Conference and instantly fell in love. We knew that we had to make the short drive up the coast from San Francisco to Sausalito, the site of the studio where this simple, earthy pottery is made.
Right off the bat, when you enter the factory store you're face-to-face with a beautiful display of simple, earth-toned pottery and some iMacs---heaven!
A wonderfully friendly employee named Heidi gave us an impromptu tour of the studio and showed us the kiln where they load their famous tableware for firing.
Racks of pottery waiting to be fired.
Heath also makes beautiful ceramic tile in different sizes and glaze colors. They are perfect for bathrooms, kitchens, floors, fireplaces--wherever your imagination can think up.
These are some new prototype vase designs that will be available this winter. We'll be sure to let you know when they are available!
All-in-all, the Heath Ceramics factory store and studio is a fantastic place to visit. The company has a remarkable history that honors Edith Heath's original art and technique to this day. Thanks to the friendly people at the store--we really appreciated your hospitality.
The PrairieMod Squad highly recommends a visit to anyone who loves great design and quality products. If you can't make it out to the West Coast, go to the Heath website and find a place near you that sells the ware...or buy it direct from them! Enjoy!
